Digger and the Pussycats are an energetic garage punk rock duo hailing from Melbourne, Australia. The raucous twosome features Sam on guitar and Andy on drums, who also share vocal duties. Their songs candidly express their experiences, often discussing how life unfolds and how interactions with babes can heat things up to a scorching 100 degrees. With five LPs already under their belt, Digger and the Pussycats got their unique name from a friend nicknamed "Digger" who suggested a couple of band names, one of them being Digger and the Pussycats. The boys decided to embrace it wholeheartedly. Good on ya, Digger!

The duo seamlessly crosses a variety of genres, incorporating elements of blues and heavy rock vibes into their music. Their notable releases include Young, Tight, and Alright, along with an impressive collection of 14 seven-inch singles. At times, the Pussycats delve into a slouchy country sound with tracks like "Why Won't She Marry Me," before shifting gears with tunes like "Pick Up Pony,” “Fashion Victim,” and “Coming To Get You.” Watch Yr Back is an album that is highly recommended for any listener with an appreciation of garage punk and the Aussie pub-rock scene.

Having been involved in musical endeavors since their high school days, the boys were driven by a desire to write their own original songs and have not looked back since. They have played extensively across Australia and regularly tour Europe and the UK. Asked about what’s on the horizon, Sam says, “the band are writing and recording some new songs at the moment, not sure if we will do an album or if it will be a bunch of singles or whatever. Right now seems like a great time to just put out one single and roll with that and then another one three months later.” But don’t fear, the boys are in the midst of preparing to embark on a thrilling tour through various destinations in Europe this summer, with gigs in Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands. We asked Sam, if he could invite any artist, dead or alive, over for dinner, who would it be? He admitted it was a hard choice, but perhaps he would pick Martin Newell from The Cleaners from Venus as this bloke is truly a genius! The eggplant needs to be peeled and be soft but not mushy. The capsicum should be charred and then peeled and cut into long fat strips. The salami needs to have fennel in it. The spinach should be fresh and not wilting.

Cafe: The Wall in St Kilda East - everyone there is beautiful and so is the coffee and the food.

Pub/bar: I love hanging out in the front bar at The Tote. It's the ultimate rock n roll dive. Hell's Kitchen in Melbourne's CBD is a second choice.

Restaurant: This is where things get hard. I would say Jim's Greek Tavern in Collingwood, mainly for the atmosphere and the service.
